First Iraqi

Visual Memory Confrence

About Program

The first Iraqi Visual Memory Conference represents a pioneering initiative, marking the first of its kind in Iraq to address the urgent need to preserve our invaluable audiovisual heritage and visual memory. This project is a national initiative, the first of its kind in the field of visual memory. Over the years, there have been continuous efforts to achieve this momentum to preserve our cultural heritage. This is precisely what this conference aims to accomplish: to achieve the goals and objectives of the national project to preserve visual memory, which is an integral part of Iraqi cultural heritage. The conference will coincide with UNESCO's World Day for Audiovisual Heritage and aims to stimulate national and international efforts to protect Iraq’s rich audiovisual heritage and visual memory. The Al-Hassan Ibn Al-Haytham Higher Committee for the Iraqi Visual Memory is keen to make this conference the starting point for preserving this memory by bringing together as many individuals, institutions, institutes, and universities from around the world to Baghdad and collaborating with them to safeguard and preserve our visual memory. This will be achieved through cooperation agreements with institutions in friendly countries and other collaborations with embassies, international organizations, and institutions specializing in documentation, restoration, and archiving, with several experiences in this field. From this standpoint, the committee is committed to ensuring the success of the conference.
